There are two optional shapes for E minor:

Step 1. Place middle finger on fret 2 of A string
Step 2. Place ring finger underneath middle finger. (Fret 2, D string).

Or -

Step 1. Place index finger on fret 2 of A string
Step 2. Place middle finger underneath index finger. (Fret 2, D string).

E minor is played from the E string.
